| On May 8, 2009, the six month anniversary of our first date I made arrangements with the local triple A minor league team the Round Rock Express here in Texas to throw out a "first pitch" before the game. This was in Elisabeth's mind in honor of my retiring after 24 years in the army. But little to her surprise we took the family, my dad, her mom and our two boys to the game so they could be there. I had arranged that day to write on the ball "Will you marry me?". She was escorted on the field as my guest and after I threw the pitch she was brought out to the mound for what she was told was a photo opportunity when she reached me the announcer got her attention by saying "Hey Liz, I think there is a message on that ball just for you". When she turned back to me I was on my knee and handed her the ball as I asked her " Liz, would you do me the honor of sharing the rest of eternity as my wife?" At which time she responded "YES" and leaned over to kiss me. The announcer then put on "Always and Forever" as we walked off the field together. Once off the field the boys and all the others with us each gave her a pink rose and I gave her a single red rose from myself. They treated us as royalty and we escorted to a suite to watch the game and Fireworks following. We have made plans to wed in Florida before heading on a cruise that will be on the 1 year anniversary of our engagement. | |
